Athlete of the Month, Parker Knoph – October

Ryan Curtis, Writer

Parker Knoph (12) has been named athlete of the month for October. He has been chosen not only for his exceptional ability in the water, but also for his work in the classroom. Parker’s favorite thing about boy’s water polo is “the opportunity to participate in rigorous physical activity and when we [boy’s water polo team] work as a team to get that goal.” Water polo has given Parker a community and friends that encourage him in his athletic endeavors. The boy’s water polo team is currently in CIF and they are fighting to become CIF champions in their divisions. Parker feels that he doesn’t deserve the title of athlete of the month. He says that he never equated himself as an athlete, and especially one [deserving] this title. He is very grateful however, for being recognized. He is applying to Stanford University and MIT as his top schools. Parker has, and still is working hard to meet his academic goals as well as athletic ones.
