Norco Softball wins back to back championships

Jacob Williams, Editor-In-Chief

On Friday May 17th, Norco Softball captured their second straight Division 1 championship.

Norco was going against the second best team in California, Great Oak. Like every other game, Sarah Willis was lights out on the mound, throwing a complete game shutout, giving up no runs, only three hits and two walks. Abby Dayton and Kinzie Hansen blew open the offense by providing clutch hits in the third inning. Although Kyleigh Sand made a couple of errors defensively, she made up for it with the bat driving in a run with two hits. Norco’s crowd was roaring screaming “We are. . . Norco.”  The Cougars ran onto the field and dogpiled onto Willis in celebration. Norco is the first D1 team to repeat since Valencia High in 2007.

Norco wants to wish seniors Kinzie Hansen, Paige Smith, Raegan Cheyne, Maile Maletta, and Megan Forbes the best in their respective college careers. Hansen is going to Oklahoma University. Smith and Cheyne are going to Ole Miss University, joining Norco alumni Mikayla Allee. Maletta is going to Dixie State University, and Forbes is attending Fairfield University in Connecticut. Norco will always remember what you have done to make our softball program so special and a top team in the nation. Shine bright and keep making Norco proud!
